| A Few Reminders to Start the
Semester Off Right |
 |
|
· Please remember to renew your contract (signature
only) at the end of each 5 month contract period. If
you've forgotten your renewal date, contact the office.
· The cost per lesson is $15, which is paid monthly
at $60 or quarterly at $180 with a final $60 payment for
the 10 month school year. For new students, the first
installment is due before the first day of instruction.
Fees for continuing students are due on your first day
of class each month or new quarter, even if you're
absent.
· There is normally a waiting list and I'd appreciate
your cooperation with the policy in regard to
communication, attendance and prompt payments. I have
not demanded any late fees to my disadvantage. Again,
please respect the rules.
· Discounts of 10% for the initial contract period
are offered to families with 2 or more students
receiving private lessons
· Want Music? reserves weekly time slots for each
registered student. There are no make-ups or refunds for
missed lessons that are caused by the student, parent or
guardian. Also, there are no refunds for early
withdrawal from the contract period. If lessons are
missed due to inclement weather or due to instructor's
circumstances, they will be made up at a time convenient
to the student and the instructor.
· As announced, I will be visiting South America
(Ecuador) the month of April. You should have received a
list with make up dates. It is very important that you
finalize your make up dates by January 21, 2008.
· Students, please be reminded that your ear training
selections are due to me by your last lesson in January.
Parents please encourage students to practice and put in
a little extra time, if they have been chosen to
participate in ear training.

The Fall Recital was excellent. All students played
very well and looked so good. As we move into the last
semester of this school year, please be encouraged and
encourage your child to practice everyday. It really
gets easier when you do. See you at your next lesson.
During the last semester, the point system will get a
little tighter. You really MUST earn your points. Work
Hard.
Students of the month: Joshua Gray, Pierre
Jenkins, Robert II, Dionne Manning, and Jasmine Boyd
Star Student: Changa Muzi - Changa puts
forth intense effort when learning a piece of music. His
solemn facial expression is not to be confused. The
intense effort is seen in his eyes. One can almost feel
his brain working and the results coming through his
finger. Watch out for Changa!! He's well on his way to
musical greatness!!

| Health Tips |

Feeling sluggish - again? It's tough to start your
day with dragging feet and a mind that's still under the
covers. These tips may help you beat fatigue:
Shake things up. If your routine has become boring
and monotonous, try a new activity. Take a class or
volunteer in your community.
Eat breakfast. Skipping breakfast can lead to
overeating and drowsiness later in the day.
Manage your stress. Worrying takes its toll on your
body. One way to ease anxiety is to get organized. Make
"to do" lists or try other time-management strategies.
Keep consistent sleep patterns. Sleeping in on the
weekends may seem like a good idea, but it can confuse
your body. One way to stay alert is to go to sleep and
wake up at the same time every day.
Get out and about. A quick morning or lunchtime walk
is a great way to get your blood flowing and energize
your day.
Evaluate your lifestyle habits. The use of alcohol
and drugs can leave you feeling sluggish - and it may
harm your health. If you think you may have a problem
with alcohol or drugs, seek help from a therapist or
support group.

A Word from

Did You Know That...?
Fur Elise was composed by Ludwig van Beethoven and
the original title was Bagatelle for Piano in A minor.
It was most probably dedicated to Therese Malfatti, his
piano student in 1809-1810. Beethoven could be in love
with her but this topic is still debated. Years after
Beethoven's death, a researcher, Nohl stumbled upon the
autograph of the little piece when visited the
Malfatti's family. He misread Beethoven's handwriting;
he read Fur Therese as Fur Elise. So it's known as Fur
Elise. Unfortunately, the autograph is lost.
